Stringer Control

One of the best tips I can give you is start with the fattest stringer possible and learn using it on the side of the flame until you feel comfortable. Once you master fat stringer then gradually move to smaller stringers.

To make fatter stringer wait longer to pull (video clip coming soon)

I use bent nose pliers to pull stringer. This way I can keep my hands in the same position and they work great for me. Other folks prefer tweezers or needle nose pliers. Try out several kinds of hardware to see what is right for you.
